Books About Books

I think we can all agree that I love books, I love anything to do with books, I am without a doubt a bibliophile.  So what could be better then a book...about books!  Here is a list of my favorite/hopefully soon to be favorite, books/series about books (was that confusing enough for you all?)

Inkheart Trilogy-This is about as meta as you can get as far as books go.  This series is about a man who can read people and things into and out of books!  When his daughter was young, he read a book called Inkheart which caused his wife to dissapear into the book, some horrible people to come out and set in motion an amazing adventure that any book lover would give their right eye to be part of. This series is has it all, adventure, family, villians, princes back from the dead, authors who feel they can play God, fairies, a masked thief, tragedy of epic porportions, seriously just go read it.

Chronicles of the Imagniarium Geographica-This series while very enjoyable for anybody is definatly targeted for us super dorks who not only read voraciously, but study the authors as well.  This imaginative series gives an alternate possibility to where the authors of some of our most beloved books got their ideas.  I don't want to say to much because the end of the first book gives such a great twist that I want you all to discover it for yourselves. Also a land where all possibilities of mythical places being reality is a place I am dying to explore.

Fly By Night-Oh the words, the wonderully beautiful words in this book just make me so happy!  In this book all written word is strictly controlled by the Guild.  Mosca Mye is a rare non elite who can both read and write. She sets off on a dangerous journey of discovery, fueled by her love of the written word.  This book is not a book to be read quickly on the beach, it is a wordy tome of awesomeness that needs time and effort to get through, but to me at least it was so worth it!

Magic Ex Libris Series-This is a series I am very excited to start reading, I have loved all of the authors other books and a series about a secret magic order who can reach into books to pull out objects sounds great.  So far the reviews have been very positive and the addition of various famous book related peoples makes this a must read, don't worry I will let you know my oh so valued opinion on it as soon as I am done :-)

The Book Thief-This book, which has been reccomended to me by countless people who know very well my taste in books is on my short list and will be read in the very near future. This is a historical fiction novel which is set in WWII which is oddly one of my favorite time periods to read about.  A child thief finds book irresistable and after learning to read them, shares them with the other down trodden people she encounters, if that isn't a testament to the enduring power of books, then I don't know what is.

What is your favorite book about a book?  Does it get tricky when you use real people/books in your stories?  How obsessed with books does one have to be to read a book about a book?
