No AC!

Soooo...our AC broke...and since we are now proud home owners we get to deal with it all by ourselves...yay.  This wouldn't be to bad as a) I really like the windows open and b)  I pay the electric bill, but it's been in the upper 90's plus humidity. Normally I would just run away to the fire station...but the AC is out in the bunk rooms.

Melting Book

Just how hot is it?  Well everything is melting...especially me!  Plus side is that reading does not require a whole lot of energy (technically neither does studying...but who wants to do that) so if you need me I will be stuck to my couch with a pile of books and ice...or at the bookstore...cause you know...AC.   Happy Reading Everybody!

Frustrated

All right folks, this is gonna be short and sweet.  I'm pretty frustrated right now 'cause I have gotten very little reading in as of late.  This follows a couple weeks where I was doing pretty well so it makes it all that much more frustrating.  To top it off my insomnia has been kicking in hard core.  Normally my lack of sleep has the side effect of allowing me some extra reading time, this cycle though has not been nice and I have not been able to concentrate enough to get any real reading in.

 I'm assuming this is because of the fact that I have been working at least 10 hour days...and often 24-72 hour days for the last three weeks...sigh.  Oh well, I just have to get through this epic weekend (working from Friday night to Monday morning) and I should be able to refocus and get some quality reading time in.  Until then, Happy Reading Everybody!

Job Hunting

Just when I get my life under some sort of semblance of lesser chaos, all sorts of things like to get turned on their head.  What that means for me is back to job hunting...which is so not my favorite thing.  See I find job hunting to be tedious and boring, there are plenty of jobs in my field, its just the lather rinse repeat business of typing all my info over and over, attaching my certs over and over,

staring at jobs wondering if I actually already applied for this job or not...over and over.  To break up the tedium I have made a deal with my self.  For every job I apply to, I get to read one chapter of my book...so far I'm up to 4 applications and about 10 chapters...yeah not so good at putting down the book lol.  Anyways if anybody needs me I'll be the girl with the computer in front of her face and a book in her lap.  Happy Reading Everybody!

Reading...Cures Everything

Had a ton of things to do on my list today, but woke feeling super crappy.  So instead of getting to work on my gargantuan to do list, I grabbed a cup of coffee, a blanket and a book and read for an hour.

Oddly enough after a couple of chapters I actually felt better.  Now it's back to blitzing through my list which includes unpacking the rest of my books.  See ya tomorrowish.  Happy Reading Everybody!

Hi Folks, sorry for the lack of posting this week but work is kicking my a$$.  I have been putting in 16+ hour days on the ambulance so...yeah...posting is not happening.  I did find a couple of minutes to buy more bookshelves for the rest of my unpacked books.

Now just waiting for Hubbin to put them together and then try to find a minute or two in between shifts to put the books away.  I will try to do a big girl post tomorrow...but it all depends on my night.  Happy Reading Everybody!

How To Make A Better Day In 10 Easy Steps

Soooo yeah...it's been a long four days and I am finally home for the next 24 hours.  I am tired, sore, hungry gross and in desperate need of a distraction.  Lucky for me I know just how to do that.
1. Take a long hot shower
2. Put on comfy clothes (unless your home alone then you can skip this step...just make sure the curtains are closed).
3. Pour the wine
4.  Pour some more wine 'cause who are we kidding here we know we are gonna drink it all.
5. Grab a book
6. Grab a couple more books just in case 'cause who knows how long it will be before we move again.
7. Go pee...'cause see above step
8. Turn off your phone...well turn off the ringer...well promise your self you will only answer if it is really really important...or Johnny Depp...or Thor..or that cute neighbor...
9. Read, drink, dream
10. Repeat until all better.

New House!

Hi Folks, sorry for the lack of posting.  Unfortunately this will probably continue for the rest of the week as I am trying to unpack while spending 72 hours on an ambulance...doesn't leave a lot of time for posting.  I did however want everybody to know that me and my 20+ boxes of books have arrived safely and are eagerly awaiting completion of the fabled Book Nook.

Pretty sure this is what my movers felt like!

I already love it here and have found at least 13 different awesome places to read, including TWO different reading trees.  I am totally excited to have this week over with so I can get in some solid reading time, book nook creation time and serious rambling time in.   I will try and get some pics up soon, but in the mean time please have some patience until this insane week is over and then it will be rambling city I promise.  Happy Reading Everybody!

Angry Reading

It has not been a fun couple of day...In fact it has been a down right crappy week.  One of the ways I get my self through weeks like this is to brutally throw myself into books.  I usually like to choose sci-fi or fantasy or something that is completely different from my current life as a way to escape.  Unfortunately my crazy brains sometimes finds it hard to focus on the words on the page when I have so much stuff rumbling through it.  This is when I switch to what I call angry reading mode.  This is where I actually exert a fair amount of effort to shove all the stupid to the side and do my best to let the book take me away.  I usually will pick up one of my go to favorites so that I don't have to add ire over a badly written book to my list of grievances.  Lucky for me, even though it takes a bit of effort, this trick usually will help me escape and can even calm me down for the most part.  So here is to a better week next week.  Happy Reading Everybody!

Asleep Awake

Between an epic bout of insomnia and my absolute insane schedule I am beyond exhausted.

Post Holiday/Work Sleepys

Hi Everybody! (Hi Dr. Nick...any Simpson fans?  anybody?)  If I seem a little loopy it's 'cause I am.  Holiday's were awesome (yay more books) and my 48 straight hours at the fire station were insanely busy, but so very productive AND I even got some reading done.

That being said, I am beyond exhausted and I have another 24 hours coming up, so this is gonna be short and sweet.  In fact this is all there is to it :-)  Happy Reading Everybody!

Holding My Eyes Open

Skyping with baby sis today and realized we both suffer from the same problem on occasion...we can't stay awake to read.  We go to bed early with the intention of reading for an hour or two (a habit that we both still have from our childhood) and lo and behold we fall asleep a couple pages in.  There are several stages to falling asleep while reading.

 First you are all good to go, you start reading, getting into it. The next stage is you realize that you have read the same page a couple of times and still don't remember what you just read.  The third stage is when you rest your eyes for "just a second" only to drag them open a few minutes later to read one word and then rest them again.  Stage four is what I like to call the tired two year old phase, and this is when you know it's hopeless, but you refuse to actually go to sleep and force your eyes open one more time.  Eventually you hit the final stage and that is when your book slips from your fingers and falls to the floor and you just don't have the energy to lean over and pick up...and you finally admit defeat.  What happens when you fall asleep reading?  Happy Reading Everybody!

Too Much Learning

I made it back WOOHOOO!  That was a pretty rough week, learned a lot of stuff, but did not get to indulge my creative side at all, which makes me turn into a crazy person.  I unfortunately did not get much reading done AND I am heading into another hell week (120 hours on an ambulance) so if my

posts are more incoherent and sporadic then usual, you know why.  All of that being said, I did get to learn a lot of new things, and the best part was I was encouraged to think in new ways, which I love.  I also have a ton of new things to research which also makes me HAPPY!  I will try and get some actual posts up here soon, and hopefully finish a couple of the great books I am in the middle of right now so that I can do some more ramblings.  I will say I have a ton of posts in my head, I just need to find time and energy to get them written.  I hope you are all finding many great books.  Happy Reading Everybody!

Reading ADD

These last couple weeks I have had a very hard time concentrating on any one book.  I start one and...nah...not what I want...I pick up another one, read a chapter or two...nope not it either.  My whole floor is covered in piles of books that I have started and discarded, seriously it's like 14 different books!

This happens to me on occasion, usually when the weather is about to change, or I'm really really tired and all of that is going on right now.  I just don't have the energy to really get into any book, and at the moment I am not all that inspired by any one thing to really delve into it.  I'm sure that this phase will pass, it always does.  Until then I will keep reading a chapter here and there until something finally catches and holds my attention.  Happy Reading Everybody!
