No AC!
Soooo...our AC broke...and since we are now proud home owners we get to deal with it all by ourselves...yay. This wouldn't be to bad as a) I really like the windows open and b) I pay the electric bill, but it's been in the upper 90's plus humidity. Normally I would just run away to the fire station...but the AC is out in the bunk rooms.

| Melting Book |
Just how hot is it? Well everything is melting...especially me! Plus side is that reading does not require a whole lot of energy (technically neither does studying...but who wants to do that) so if you need me I will be stuck to my couch with a pile of books and ice...or at the bookstore...cause you know...AC. Happy Reading Everybody!

I'm In Trouble Now
Finally starting to settle into the new house. Boxes are starting to get put away, we have painting and bookshelf installation planned this weekend, it's all starting to come together. While I was at the station this weekend, Hubbin took a break from unpacking to do some exploring...and guess what he found? A Barnes and Noble, a Starbucks, an ABC store AND McKay an awesome used bookstore that had been recommended to me by my awesome driver...who also happens to be part of my impromptu fire station book club, all literally less then 5 minutes from my house.
When I got back from my 48 hour shift, Hubbin took me to McKay's and told me to go to town...7 books later we finally decided to go make dinner as I don't even have a place to put the books yet :-) I feel that this is a sign we absolutely chose the right house...even if we won't be able to pay the mortgage due to the spending of all our money on books ha. Now to find the other bookstore recommended by my other fire house buddy and I will be good to go! Happy Reading Everybody!

New House!
Hi Folks, sorry for the lack of posting. Unfortunately this will probably continue for the rest of the week as I am trying to unpack while spending 72 hours on an ambulance...doesn't leave a lot of time for posting. I did however want everybody to know that me and my 20+ boxes of books have arrived safely and are eagerly awaiting completion of the fabled Book Nook.
I already love it here and have found at least 13 different awesome places to read, including TWO different reading trees. I am totally excited to have this week over with so I can get in some solid reading time, book nook creation time and serious rambling time in. I will try and get some pics up soon, but in the mean time please have some patience until this insane week is over and then it will be rambling city I promise. Happy Reading Everybody!

It's Getting Real
Oh my goodness folks! The move is just around the corner...three more days and I will be waking up in my new home. At the moment though I am feeling rather desolate as all of my many bookshelves look like this.
It is really weird and oddly monochromatic to have all of my books packed away and nothing but sad empty shelves staring back at me. Of course the upside to all of this is that in my new house all of my friends are coming with me.
Here are 16 of the 22 boxes that are filled with nothing but books that are coming with me...and that is after I *gasp* actually donated some of them. I am so ready to be at my new home with my Hubbin, my book nook and all of my literary friends. Happy Reading Everybody!

Panic Reading!
Ahhhh!!!! We just signed on our new house and now I am in a bit of a panic freak out mode.
So if anybody needs me I will be hiding under the covers with my face buried in a book pretending that the real world of 30 year loans doesn't exist. Happy Reading Everybody!

Planning My Nook
Are all sick of hearing about my new house yet? You are? Well tough teeheehee. One of the coolest things about my soon to be new house is that I have a whole area to my own personal book nook/library. I am in the planning stages now so here are some of my current inspirations for what will soon be the most epic of book nooks (some of these might have been seen in previous posts...but that's ok 'cause now there for a purpose).
My favorite part about this one is the tree. I also like the built in little desk to maybe write my super awesome blog on.
So this is probably closer to what will actually happen at my house, a comfy chair shoved into the middle of as many bookshelves as I can cram into my space.
Soooo....I'm pretty sure my Hubbin won't mind if I open up the floor between the stories to make this right...
I wonder how hard it would be to build a day bed right into the book nook?
I would love to add some cool architecture to the room, just for a little uniqueness.
These are just a couple of ideas to add to my ever changing idea of the perfect reading area. The best part about owning the place is I can pretty much make whatever modifications my budget and know how allow so WOOOHOOO! Happy Reading Everybody!

Packing Up The Library
Started packing up all of my books today. I was going to wait until a little bit closer to the move, but realized that as I started packing up the first round of books in the spare room...it takes me forever. See, I can't just grab a handful of books and put them into boxes. Apparently I have to open every book, read the back cover, scan through the book, exclaim over how I forgot I had this particular book (between Hubbin and I we have over 700 books and counting).
Sometimes I even start actually reading the book and totally forget that I am packing in the first place. With the amount of books I have this makes for a potentially very time consuming task. This is why even though I'm not moving for over a month I am still gonna go ahead and start packing the tomes now. Of course if all my books are packed I'll have to buy more to read until we move and then a couple more to read until I unpack the books...that is completely reasonable right?!?

Home Sweet Home
Soooo Hubbin and I are in the middle of finding a new place to live, packing up and all that fun stuff that comes with a major change so if my posts are a little spotty we will use this as the excuse. All this searching for the perfect home has got me thinking...what if I could live in any literary homestead, where would it be. Here are my top choices...for the moment.
Pemberley - There are a billion places in Jane Austin's world that I would gladly live forever and ever, but I think Pemberley and it's vast forested estates would have to top even that list. I am a fan of personal space, and tree's and creek's and streams, and parks, and Colin Firth and drawing rooms...so yeah, this place would fit the bill quit admirably. I also feel it would be a great place to have guests they could literally have a whole entire wing of rooms, bathrooms, and various entertainment rooms all to themselves ALL the way at the other end of the giant house. Which should keep interpersonal tensions at a low.
Howl's Moving Castle - This would be the ideal house for my commitaphobe self. It moves all over the place, so if I ever had nosy neighbors I could just start my magic fire and head someplace else. The magic door that leads to different places could give me my variety in life fix. The ever configuring house itself would ensure that I would never move out of boredom. Essentially this house was designed for me! The only hard part would be acquiring a fire demon that didn't drive to hard a bargain to fuel this most perfect of dwellings.
The Magician's House - A sprawling mansion on it's own private island, serviced by beings called Dufflepud's is cool enough, add in infinite rooms filled with various magical trinkets and artifacts and I would be a happy camper. As an added bonus I could go check out the magic book of amazing spells whenever I wanted. Double bonus, the property seems to be tailor made for all kinds of parties, from masked balls to the most epic of picnics. Triple bonus think of all the book shelf space!!!!!!!!
Hogwarts - Let's be honest...who doesn't want to live at Hogwarts? I think being a teacher here would be so awesome...of course that means I would have to stop exploring the myriads of hidden passages, extensive grounds, and flying on my hippogriff long enough to actually get to class. This is one of those places that combines sheer wonderment and magic with a practibility and logic that appeals to me very much. The biggest down side would be having to share the old place with all those obnoxious kiddos...but I bet my nephews would LOVE to visit me.
Little Log Cabin - Ever since I was little I always wanted to live in a little log cabin...or a castle...what can I say I'm a fickle girl. My love of little cozy places in the middle of tree's probably comes from this book. I just love the idea of something simple and enchanted where anything can happen. One to many fairytale's have taught me that if I want adventure and fairies and quests and such I have to start off in my humble abode in the middle of the woods...also epic haunted Halloween house parties!
I am hoping that Hubbin will read this post and find me a house just like one of these...that's not too much to ask is it? Happy Reading Everybody!

Bookshelfish
I'm out of bookshelf space again and the books are stacking up in random places. I told the Hubbin that I was gonna get new book shelves and he called me bookshelfish...this may have something to do with the fact I keep moving his books off the shelves to make room for mine, but in my defense mine are WAY prettier. The other issue we have is that I may be out of traditional wall space for new shelves, so here are some space saving book storage ideas that may help me and possibly you out.

| Expandable Bookshelf |
This bookshelf can expand as I buy new books...It's like a dream come true!
![]() |
| Bookwave |
This bookshelf can hang anywhere so wall space is no longer an issue
![]() |
| Elastic Bookshelf |
A perfect morphing design to squeeze in anywhere I can find a bit of space
![]() |
| Bookshelf Door |
Not only is this practical (I have at four doors I could do this to), but you have the added bonus of instant secret door of awesome!
![]() |
| Sapien Bookshelf |
This super stackable shelves essentially fit anywhere you can find a spot...I can imagine my house becoming a forest of these things.
Alrighty, now I have tons of idea's to counter my sweet Hubbin when he tries to tell me we are out of room...and if he is a bit less shelfish MAYBE I'll even give him his own book case...if he gets some better looking books. Happy Reading Everybody!!!!

We Have Christmas!
Sorry about the lack of post yesterday, had 80 hours at work this week, including a straight 45 hour shift at the fire station...so I slept instead of posting. Today however we shall kick off the Christmas season with a look at my Christmas Happy Reading Awesome Dwelling of Super Holiday Cheer!
My tree, this year we have copper and dark green as a theme
My story fox
My quote ornament I made last year
Books and nutcrackers, two of my favorite things
Everything gets decorated
Even the bookshelves get some Christmas Cheer
I love having my house all decorated for Christmas. After long weeks like this, it is great to come home, curl up in my fuzzy blanky, and enjoy the coziness and colors of Christmas. I hope everybody else is having a fabulous day. Happy Reading Everybody!

My House Is Full Of Books!
Decided to attempt to clean my house this morning and this is what I found
Yep I have books EVERYWHERE...and the best part is I am actually reading all of these at the moment :-) So of course instead of cleaning, I started reading...Oh well!
Where is your stash of books? Where is the weirdest place you stash books? Where is the most surprising place you have found a book in your house?
