Holding My Eyes Open

Skyping with baby sis today and realized we both suffer from the same problem on occasion...we can't stay awake to read.  We go to bed early with the intention of reading for an hour or two (a habit that we both still have from our childhood) and lo and behold we fall asleep a couple pages in.  There are several stages to falling asleep while reading.

 First you are all good to go, you start reading, getting into it. The next stage is you realize that you have read the same page a couple of times and still don't remember what you just read.  The third stage is when you rest your eyes for "just a second" only to drag them open a few minutes later to read one word and then rest them again.  Stage four is what I like to call the tired two year old phase, and this is when you know it's hopeless, but you refuse to actually go to sleep and force your eyes open one more time.  Eventually you hit the final stage and that is when your book slips from your fingers and falls to the floor and you just don't have the energy to lean over and pick up...and you finally admit defeat.  What happens when you fall asleep reading?  Happy Reading Everybody!

Asleep In The Stacks

So I being the genius that I am decided to pull another double shift at the fire station, with my big girl job in between, on my birthday, yep I'm a smart one :-)  All kidding aside it was actually a lot of fun.  It is awesome that I love my "volunteer" job enough to go sleep deprived for a week, just to have the opportunity to boss my unit.  That being said I am a wee bit tired

May be exactly how I am feeling right now!

All in all it has been an exhausting couple weeks, but my Baby Sis comes in tonight, so instead of sleeping we will be scaring ourselves silly with good old fashioned horror movies, followed by a day at the wineries and a meander through the bookstore...and then maybe I will attempt to get some sleep.  Hope everybody has a great weekend.  Happy Reading Everybody!

Under The Book

Wow I am so so so so so so so so so tired...and I still have 48 straight hours this weekend...plus eight more at work today.  I kind of feel like this dude

I will try and get back to some kind of normal schedule soon, I just have not had the time to read more then 3-4 pages this last week, and next week is not looking any better.  If my posts get a little weird you will all know why :-)
